GT vs RR IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi endured yet another heartbreak as he crashed out short of another century in the Qualifier 2 match against the Gujarat Titans, and the teen sensation didn't hesitate to vent his frustration at himself. He perished in a strikingly similar fashion after hammering 96 runs and attempted to clinch the hundred with a towering shot.

And just like the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he launched the ball skyward, and the fielder stationed at third man stunned the stadium into silence. The fans at the venue erupted in a standing ovation for the teen sensation, but he trudged back to the pavilion, seething with frustration.

Sooryavanshi opened his knock tentatively as the GT bowlers executed a clear plan: target his body. The teen sensation cracked his first four during the third over, but he appeared out of sorts as both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel departed cheaply.

He hammered another four during the same over and found solid support from Ravindra Jadeja, who accelerated the scoring rate, while Sooryavanshi anchored his composure at the other end.

Jadeja and Sooryavanshi forged a partnership of 73 runs, but the star all-rounder limped off after sustaining an injury. Yet again, Sooryavanshi flashed glimpses of his old self, but this wasn't the same blistering 97 off 29 balls he unleashed against the Pat Cummins-led side.

He raced to his half-century off 31 balls, and then unleashed his attacking prowess. When Jadeja re-entered to bat, the teen sensation rampaged, smashing 46 runs off 15 balls and storming into the 90s.

At one point, it seemed Sooryavanshi would storm to his third IPL century, but then he stumbled just short again.

It also means that he has achieved an unwanted feat in this tournament. He has become the fifth batter, besides KL Rahul, David Warner, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Glenn Maxwell, to get in the 90s for the third time.
