India Vs England T20I: The wait for cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's fans ended on Saturday as he surpassed the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, by making his debut at just 15 years, 3 months and 7 days. The cricket prodigy received his maiden cap in the 2nd T20I against England in Manchester. Tendulkar made his India debut at 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in 1989.
Sooryavanshi got his maiden India cap from Tilak Varma. The 15-year-old is now the youngest debutant in T20I cricket. However, his first innings in international cricket was short-lived as he managed to score only 14 runs off 10 balls with two sixes.
The teenager from Samastipur, Bihar, stunned the cricket fraternity with his fearless batting style during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Earlier, India bowling coach Morne Morkel hinted that the management will not easily displace openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma despite teen phenom Sooryavanshi knocking on the team's doors. Abhishek has made one half-century and a 49 in his last three innings during the ongoing UK tour, but Samson has been disappointing with scores of 5, 0, 1.
India Elect To Bat
Meanwhile, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first in the second clash with host England in the 5-match tournament.
India (Playing XI): Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (WK), Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakaravarthy.
"We'll bat first again. We've got one change. Vaibhav comes in for Sanju. Absolutely, you've seen him in the last few months, the way he's been batting. Not really. I feel that he completely deserves to be in the squad. He's someone who doesn't take pressure at all. Has an unflinching nature. He's very well aware of what's going to come in these coming matches. The way he bats in the nets and takes on the bowlers, shows what kind of player he is," Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer said during the toss.
