DC vs GT IPL 2026: Shubman Gill has scripted history, becoming the first cricketer to score 2500 runs in this tournament for the Gujarat-based franchise. Gill, who has been playing for GT since their inaugural season, scored70 runs in their IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals. He has joined the 2500-run list by smashing a four during the seventh over of the first innings, bowled by Axar Patel.

He scored 70 off 45 balls, helping GT set a target of 210.

Post Sai Sudharsan's early wicket, Gill, along with Jos Buttler, stitched a partnership of 60 runs for the second wicket. And then Gill and Washington Sundar had built a partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket. Gill's brilliant innings came to an end as DC's star fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took his wicket.

Gill has been playing for the Gujarat-based franchise since IPL 2022. According to ESPNCricinfo, it took him 62 matches to reach 2500 runs for this team. None of the other batters has scored as many or more runs than him after IPL 2022. At the same time, he had become the only batter to have scored more than 2000 runs for the Gujarat Titans.

Gill had smashed five sixes. Gill smashed five sixes and four fours during his 70-run knock. He has batted at an average of 46.5 for this franchise, with a strike rate of 149.85.
