KKR vs PBKS IPL 2026: Shreshta, who is Shreyas Iyer's sister, has grabbed all the attention on social media after the IPL 2026 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens was abandoned. The former champions got some respite on Monday, finally scoring one point, and then Shreshta took a dig at them, highlighting that the Punjab-based franchise had gifted them one point. A video had gone viral on social media, where she was heard as saying in Punjabi, "Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point,” which means, "Punjabis have a big heart. Take the one point.”
This video sparked the controversy, as many KKR fans felt Shreshta's comment was disrespectful toward their team. They believed she was mocking KKR, a team Shreyas Iyer previously captained to their third IPL title in 2024.

But then, on Tuesday, Shreshta had to issue a statement clarifying that she hadn't tried to attack any team personally and that it was all fun and games. She also highlighted that she didn't understand why she was getting so much hatred.

“Guys, I don't understand why the hatred is being spread. It's just a game. The videos are just for fun, and I am here to support my brother. I will continue to do that. No hate for any team, it's just a game. Everyone should take it sportingly,” Shreshta has written on her official Instagram account.
“I understand aggression. I wasn't trolling anybody. It was my way of celebration, and I am going to continue doing that. I am just here to say no hate for anybody. Only love is a game. We all should have fun. The rivalry should show, no matter what. There were no personal attacks, chill. Peace out, guys,” she said.
The washout between KKR and PBKS
Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first on Monday against the Shreyas Iyer-led side. The host then suffered early blows as opener Fin Allen and Cameron Green fell cheaply during Xavier Bartlett's over. But then it began raining after 3.4 overs, and the match was washed out.
