Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma looked visibly upset after an uncomfortable moment with fans during a recent public interaction. A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media, with many users criticising the behaviour of some supporters and raising concerns about player security.

Fan tried to snatch Rohit Sharma's Watch?

In that clip, Rohit can be seen sitting in his car and waving at fans. A few supporters came very close to the vehicle, and one fan appeared to grab Rohit’s hand while he was greeting them. What initially looked like a normal fan interaction quickly became chaotic, forcing the Mumbai Indians batter to shut the car window. Rohit seemed unhappy after the incident and was seen saying a few words to the fans before leaving.

Several users on social media reacted strongly to the video. Some fans claimed that Rohit was wearing the expensive Rolex Giraffe watch, reportedly worth around ₹2.5 crore, and suggested that someone may have tried to snatch it. However, it is important to note that Jagran New Media cannot independently confirm whether there was any deliberate attempt to steal the watch.

Rohit Sharma made a comeback in IPL 2026

Coming back to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Rohit Sharma has made a strong comeback on the field after recovering from an injury. Mumbai Indians struggled during his absence and suffered back-to-back defeats in IPL 2026.

The former Mumbai Indians captain had missed five matches earlier in the season because of a hamstring injury, but returned in style against Lucknow Super Giants. Rohit played a brilliant innings of 84 runs from just 44 balls, smashing six fours and seven sixes.

Rohit Sharma's hard-hitting knock helped MI chase down a huge target of 229 runs with six wickets in hand and kept their playoff hopes alive.

Will MI Qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs?

Despite the win, MI still face an uphill battle in the race for the playoffs. The five-time champions are currently ninth on the points table with seven defeats and only three wins this season.

Mathematically, Mumbai are still in contention. If they manage to win all four of their remaining matches, they can finish with 14 points. However, they will also need convincing victories to improve their Net Run Rate, which could become crucial in a close playoff race.

Mumbai Indians will now face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their upcoming clash, which will take place on May 10 in Raipur.
