Batting stalwart Rohit Sharma is currently on the road to recovery after sustaining a hamstring injury that sustained during Mumbai Indians' (MI) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Will Rohit feature against GT?

The stylish opener has already missed MI's last clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and there are speculations whether he will feature against Gujarat Titans GT). However, Indian Express reported that the 38-year-old will be travelling to Narendra Modi Stadium much early with the team to assess his fitness. Any hamstring scare takes a player minimum of eight days to recover fully, so he will be unlikely to feature in the clash.

When did Rohit Sharma got injured?

Rohit who started his IPL 2026 campaign in style smashing a half-century, was batting on 19 against defending champions RCB when he suddenly felt some discomfort and started limping. Because of this, he had to walk back to the dugout. Earlier, Rohit looked completely fine and had even fielded throughout RCB’s innings without any issue.

The 38-year-old appeared to get hurt while running a leg bye on the fourth ball of the fifth over. He managed to take a single on the next delivery but looked uncomfortable. He received some treatment before the next over started, but the problem didn’t seem to go away. He came back on strike, faced one ball, and after defending the next delivery, he decided to leave the field.

MI's campaign in IPL 2026?

It has not been a great start to the season for the five-time champions. Although Mumbai Indians managed to end a 13-year streak without a win in their opening match, things haven’t gone well since then. They have lost four matches in a row and are currently at the bottom of the points table with just two points from five games.

Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have played eight matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far where GT holds the edge, winning five, and on the other hand, MI managed to win three. Their last outing came in IPL 2025 eliminator, where MI defeated GT by 20 runs.
