India fast-bowling all-rounder Amanjot Kaur has missed out on the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side's squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by England later this year. However, during the squad announcement, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur revealed that Amanjot will be away from the cricketing action for the next four to five months and apart from her, Kashvee Gautam was also unavailable for the selection due to some medical issues.
Why Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee Gautam missed out from India's T20 World Cup squad
India chief selector Amita Sharma further stated that Kashvee is currently recovering from a serious knee injury and the medical team will issue a detailed update on their fitness.
"Amanjot Kaur will be away from the game for the next four-five months. Kashvee Gutam was unavailable for selection, the medical team will issue a detailed update," India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said in the press conference on India's squad for the Women's T20 World Cup.
"Kashvee has a right knee injury and it's serious," says chief selector Amita Sharma. An update from the BCCI said Kashvee and Amanjot were not available for selection for T20 World Cup and series against England owing to injuries.
Radha Yadav back in India's squad
Coming back to India's squad, Radha is back in the squad after a strong performance in last year’s T20I series win in England. She has also delivered good all-round performances this year. Yastika returns as well after recovering from knee surgery. She had missed the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup after getting injured during the pre-tournament camp in Visakhapatnam.
Nandni, who was one of the standout players in WPL 2026, has been included to strengthen the bowling attack. She made headlines by becoming the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in the tournament. India’s bowling unit looks a bit inexperienced and has been hit by injuries, with seam-bowling all-rounders Amanjot Kaur (back injury) and Kashvee Gautam (knee injury requiring surgery) both unavailable.
India are the first team from Group 1 to announce their squad for the tournament, which will be held from June 12 to July 5.
They are placed in Group 1 alongside strong teams like Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.
