IPL 2026: The Mumbai Indians have been dealt a huge blow as their star opener Rohit Sharma is most likely to miss their next two IPL 2026 matches owing to an injury, as per a NDTV report. The ex-MI skipper had sustained a hamstring injury and had to retire hurt halfway through his innings in their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru last week. This had a significant impact on the Mumbai-based franchise, which lost the match by 18 runs. They will lock horns with the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans during their next two IPL matches.
He has scored 137 runs in four matches this season at an average of 45.67 and a strike rate of 165.06, including one half-century.
The Hardik Pandya-led side didn't have a great start to the ongoing season. Although they broke their 14-year-old record of not winning their tournament opener, beating the Ajinkya Rahane-led side by six wickets, they then lost three consecutive matches.

They will aim to bounce back as they prepare to face the Punjab Kings in their next match, without Rohit Sharma.
They aim to make a strong comeback and end their losing streak.
On the side, which had all its bases covered for the ongoing season, they have had an inconsistent run despite winning their first match in 13 years.

After losing their previous match, the team management will now be looking for ways to address their powerplay struggles, which have been one of their biggest weaknesses to date.
One of the biggest issues for them is the form of their star fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. He has been brilliant when it comes to restricting opponents, but has gone wicketless in the four matches he has played so far. This team, which also has the experienced Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya on its side, hasn't been up to the mark.
