IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings haven't registered a single win in the ongoing season. Under Ruturaj Gaikwad's leadership, the former champions have lost three consecutive matches and are in last place in the points table. After finishing last in IPL 2025, their campaign has gone downhill in the ongoing season as well. Besides their top-order collapse, another reason for their struggles this season is the absence of their ex-captain and star wicketkeeper-batter, MS Dhoni. He had given the first three matches of the ongoing season a miss while recovering from a calf strain.

Although the fans are looking forward to watching Dhoni back in action, there is some bad news for them. As per a Cricbuzz report, Dhoni will be missing their next IPL 2026 clash against the Axar Patel-led side. The match will be held at the Chepauk Stadium next week.

The report also revealed that Dhoni is currently in rehab and will need one more week to achieve full fitness. According to the report, the Chennai-based franchise is optimistic of seeing him back in the team for their IPL 2026 match against the Ajinkya Rahane-led side, which will be held later this month.

Besides Dhoni, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side had also suffered another injury blow to the Protea batter Dewald Brevis. But Kasi Vishwanathan, the CEO of this franchise, has revealed that Brevis' condition has improved significantly.

"MS is undergoing rehab, and it will take some time. We can't say how much time. We are hoping he (Brevis) will be available for the next game, but that will depend on how he progresses. We have a few days before the next game," Kasi said.

Stephen Fleming, CSK's head coach, has revealed that Brevis is on the verge of full fitness and will be seen in action during their match against DC.

"We hope he is going to be right for the next game. We have five days between the next game. We have been conservative, and hopefully these next five days will go as planned. He is ready to go. It's a big loss, but we are looking forward to getting him back," Fleming told reporters during the post-match press conference.
