Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis forged a brilliant partnership of 109 runs for the first wicket. Both batters punished the bowlers from the first ball, as Marsh thrashed a half-century off just 22 balls, hammering four fours and as many sixes during his innings.
With his scintillating half-century, Mitchell Marsh eclipsed KL Rahul and claimed a historic milestone.

Mitchell Marsh Completes 500 Runs In IPL 2026
During their match against the Yashasvi Jaiswal-led side, Mitchell Marsh reached the milestone of scoring 500 runs in the ongoing season. This is the second consecutive year that Australia's T20I skipper has stormed past the 500-run mark in this tournament. He has outpaced KL Rahul to become the first batter to smash more than 500 runs in two consecutive seasons.
This marks the Lucknow-based franchise's fifth year in this tournament, and they continue to chase their first IPL title. The team management pinned high expectations on KL Rahul, who excelled as a batter and captain. In his stint with the Lucknow-based franchise, Rahul powered past 500 runs only once.

It should be noted that KL Rahul surged past 500 runs for the Lucknow-based franchise twice, but his efforts faded. During IPL 2023, Rahul sustained an injury and scored only 274 runs.

Mitchell Marsh has stormed into sublime form this season. Though he stumbled at the start of his stint, he staged a brilliant comeback. He has amassed 538 runs in 13 matches, averaging 44.83.
He has batted at a blazing strike rate of 164.02 this year.
Mitchell Marsh And Josh Inglis: A New Destructive Pair In Town
The Rishabh Pant-led side has been knocked out of the playoffs race, leaving Lucknow Super Giants in contention for a spot. This match is important for LSG's playoff qualification hopes, while Pant's team focuses on preparing for the next season.
The Lucknow-based franchise accumulated valuable experience with its openers this year, but failed to discover the right combination until Josh Inglis stepped in as the opener. Since Inglis and Marsh partnered at the top, they have consistently delivered explosive starts.
This marks the second occasion this year that Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh forged a partnership of 100 runs.
