PAK vs BAN: Shan Masood was relentlessly criticized on social media as Pakistan endured a crushing 104-run defeat to Bangladesh during their first Test in Mirpur on Tuesday. This setback marked the Men in Green's third straight Test loss to Bangladesh, who secured their inaugural home Test victory against Pakistan.
Bangladesh marked this historic achievement with Nahid Rana's masterful 5/40, while disgruntled Pakistan fans vented their frustration online, targeting Shan Masood's leadership.
The Shan Masood-led squad sustained hopes of winning until the final session as they chased 268 runs. Abdullah Fazal, debuting in Test cricket, delivered a resilient knock of 66 under pressure and forged a superb partnership with Salman Ali Agha, sustaining belief in victory.

The hosts then staged a decisive turnaround after tea. Veteran spinner Taijul Islam removed Fazal, followed by Taskin Ahmed dismissing Salman in the subsequent over.

Nahid Rana dismantled Pakistan's lower and middle order with a commanding spell. He claimed Saud Shakeel's wicket and then bowled Mohammed Rizwan with a superb delivery aimed at the stumps.
"On the toss decision, Shan Masood reflected, "Hindsight is 20/20. We examined the conditions and found favorable seam bowling conditions, leading to two early wickets. Yet, we did not capitalize in the first innings and failed to capitalize with the bat as well." We would have pushed for more runs. But in the first innings, with both ball and bat, we needed to do better. You can never question the effort, especially when you are playing Test cricket after six months. Test cricket on surfaces like this teaches you that when you have a game in your hands, you have to push the opposition away, but we failed to do that", he added.
"The debutants, " he added, "I am extremely pleased with the debutants. When we selected them, we saw they had the potential to play at this level. Their maturity was exceptional. Consistency in Test cricket is vital, and I believe they can achieve that. When opportunities arise, we must assert our authority." This loss has dropped the Shan Masood-led side two positions in the WTC points table. They were lying in the fifth position ahead of this match, one position above their arch-rival India, but have now slipped to the seventh position.
