IPL 2026: Exploiting the IPL excitement by impersonating DDCA officials, a sophisticated ticket black-marketing ring was exposed for selling exclusive 'not for sale' complimentary passes at exorbitant prices. Three suspects have been apprehended; one was previously implicated in a ticket black-market scheme at the Auto Expo in Faridabad.
"Complimentary passes were being sold for Rs 20,000 each, while regular tickets fetched nearly twice their printed value, fluctuating with match demand and popularity," stated Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP crime.
The arrested suspects are Mukeem (35) from Moradabad, Gufran (36) from Jamia Nagar, and Mohammed Fasal (38) from Seelampur. They were detained near Delhi Gate following a sting operation by inspectors Man Singh and Sunder Gautam. Police confiscated tickets for 54 IPL matches, 33 complimentary passes, and cash from their possession.
