IPL 2026: Virat Kohli put to rest doubts about his Wednesday appearance against Lucknow Super Giants by attending an RCB practice session in Bengaluru, a day before the IPL 2026 clash. Kohli had injured his ankle during last week's game against the Mumbai Indians.
He was seen batting without discomfort against bowlers and throwdown specialists. Young pacer Rasikh Dar did not provide an injury update, and the team will decide on Kohli's availability after the session.
Speculation was rife on social media that Kohli won't travel to Bengaluru for the side and will instead stay back in Mumbai to rest, missing the match on Wednesday.
The veteran batter didn't enter the ground during the second innings. He had smashed a brilliant half-century off 38 balls and helped the team post their highest total in Mumbai. But he looked disappointed with his innings, as it was considered a slower knock compared to his teammates'. Phil Salt, who opened the innings along with Kohli, had scored a match-winning knock of 78 runs off 36 balls, whereas skipper Rajat Patidar had smashed 53 runs off 20 balls and went all guns blazing against the MI spinners.
Tim David's 34 off 16, including three sixes and two fours, pushed the total further. seen getting annoyed with his own performance, throwing his helmet and gloves down angrily after he got out. Despite his efforts, he was seen struggling to bat aggressively against the MI spinners after the power play.
The Rajat Patidar-led side, who will try to maintain their winning streak, are hopeful that Virat Kohli will return to the playing XI and that too at their backyard, where he has performed brilliantly.
