PBKS vs SRH IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad's star opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head had made the powerplay into a runfest as they took the Punjab Kings bowlers to the cleaners during their IPL 2026 match on Saturday. From the first ball itself, their intent was quite clear- to attack and dominate.

After a careful start, in which they scored 20 runs without losing any wickets in the first two overs, this duo began batting aggressively. Abhishek spearheaded the attack, smashing two fours and as many sixes during Arshdeep Singh's over, putting SRH in the driver's seat.

Unyielding aggression defined their batting from this point onward.

The Hyderabad-based franchise scored 50 runs in 3.4 overs at a staggering strike rate of more than 13 runs, which is way beyond the normal Powerplay benchmark. Abhishek then smashed his fifty off just 18 balls, in which he had smashed four sixes. He went all guns blazing during Vijaykumar Vyshak's over, as he had scored 24 runs in one over.

Meanwhile, Head played the perfect foil, ensuring the PBKS bowlers found no respite. He struck three consecutive fours off Xavier Baartlet in the Powerplay, helping the Ishan Kishan-led side blitz to 100 runs in six overs.

After the Powerplay, the Hyderabad-based franchise scored 105 runs without losing a wicket, double the team's usual target for this period.

It was the third time that the Ishan Kishan-led side had smashed 100 runs during the Powerplay, and it's the most by any side in the history of this tournament. No other team has been able to score this many runs more than once, and that's why this milestone is so rare.

Previously, they tallied 125/0 against Delhi and 107/0 against a Rishabh Pant-led team in IPL 2024. Kolkata Knight Riders (105/0 in 2017) and Chennai Super Kings (100/2 in 2014) have each accomplished this milestone once.

Abhishek also scripted history as he has leveled the record of smashing the most sixes during the Powerplay in this tournament, as he had seven sixes and has joined the elite list of Sanath Jayasuriya, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow.
