KKR vs GT IPL 2026: Sunil Narine achieved a landmark, becoming the first overseas player and the 13th overall to appear in 200 IPL matches. He reached this milestone in the IPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans, with the Kolkata franchise still contending for a playoff spot. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first, while the hosts reinstated spinner Varun Chakravarthy to their XI.

Narine debuted in IPL 2012 for KKR against the Rajasthan Royals. Over 14 years, he has become one of the tournament's most impactful players, contributing significantly to the Kolkata franchise’s successes.

Renowned for revolutionizing spin bowling with his mystery variations, Narine has taken 203 wickets in 200 matches at an exceptional economy rate of 7.69, establishing himself as the most economical bowler in IPL history. Despite the rise of aggressive batting, Narine continues to excel with the ball.

This season underscores his value. Amid frequent 200-run targets, Narine has claimed 11 wickets and maintained an economy rate of 6.64—outstanding figures in a batting-dominated environment.

Besides his bowling excellence, Narine has evolved into a formidable opener in recent years.

He has scored 1820 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 165.30 and an average of 17.33, providing Kolkata with valuable starts during the powerplay.

Although the Ajinkya Rahane-led side has experienced a mixed campaign and currently sits eighth in the table with four wins in 11 matches, Narine's milestone is a historic achievement. The former champions must win their last three group matches, as their recent defeat to the Rajat Patidar-led side has compromised their playoff hopes.
