Lucknow Super Giants kept their Indian Premier League playoff hopes alive with a tense 9-run DLS win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a rain-hit match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The game was stopped several times due to rain and was eventually cut down to 19 overs per side.

Mitchell Marsh Smashed century

Batting first, Mitchell Marsh played a stunning knock, smashing 111 off just 56 balls. He attacked the bowlers from the start and dominated the powerplay, helping LSG reach 209 for 3. He also shared big partnerships with Arshin Kulkarni and Nicholas Pooran, while skipper Rishabh Pant finished strongly with a quick 32 not out off 10 balls.

Rain interruptions kept breaking the flow, but LSG still set a revised target of 213 for RCB.

RCB's Chase

In reply, RCB started poorly. Mohammed Shami struck early, and then Prince Yadav produced a brilliant delivery to clean bowl Virat Kohli for a duck, leaving RCB under pressure.

Despite the early damage, RCB fought back through Devdutt Padikkal and captain Rajat Patidar, who added a strong 95-run stand. Patidar played aggressively and kept RCB in the chase with a fine 61.

Just when RCB looked settled, LSG turned the game around again. Prince Yadav came back to remove Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the same spell, shifting the momentum back.

Even late hits from Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd kept RCB alive, but LSG held their nerve in the final over to seal a narrow win.

Earlier, Marsh had set the tone with fearless hitting, smashing boundaries and sixes all over the ground. He reached his century in just 20 balls and looked unstoppable before finally getting out after a dropped chance earlier in the innings.

His knock, along with Pant’s late flourish, proved enough as LSG ended their losing streak and stayed in the playoff race.

Brief Score:

LSG: 209 for 3 in 20 overs (Mitchell Marsh 111, Krunal Pandya 1/31).

RCB: 203 for 6 in 19 overs (Rajat Patidar 61; Prince Yadav 3/33).
