SRH vs CSK IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings star fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has given their IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, after he had picked up a quadriceps injury during their previous match and has now been ruled out for the ongoing season. Khaleel had sustained the injury when he took his run-up to bowl the last ball of his over towards the fag end of the clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

He reeled in pain and left the ground as Gurjapneet Singh finished his over.

Initially, it did look like it was just cramps, but as per reports, Khaleel had sustained a serious injury. Since it will take him two months to fully recover, he has been ruled out of the ongoing season despite having played just five matches.

“We are going to bowl first. It looks like a great track, and it would not change much. Good to be up from the bottom. But, from the second game, we picked up the pace in all departments," Gaikwad was heard as saying at the time of the toss.

“The key is to get the basics right and keep up the tempo. Good to have Noor Ahmad back on track, Anshul Kamboj too had a fine game," he said.

Since it was a serious injury, Khaleel was ruled out, further worsening the Chennai-based franchise's injury issues. They are already missing Nathan Ellis's services, as his replacement, Spencer Johnson, hasn't joined the team yet due to his own injury.

Kasi Vishwanath, the CEO of the Chennai-based franchise, has revealed that the franchise will make a final call on Khaleel's replacement after consulting skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Stephen Fleming.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is also facing other injury concerns. MS Dhoni has been suffering from a calf strain even before their campaign began. Although he attended some light batting training sessions, he still hasn't reached full match fitness and will thus miss the match against SRH, even though he arrived in Hyderabad with the rest of the team.
