Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has been slapped with 15 per cent of his applicable match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct by getting involved in a dispute with the fourth umpire during their match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.
Why was Andy Flower fined?
The incident happened during 17.2 Over when Krunal Pandya lofted a ball towards wide long-on. MI fielder Naman Dhir parried the ball while stepping over the boundary line, leading to confusion over whether it was a six, a boundary, or a catch. Soon after that incident, Cemaras caught Andy Flower involved in an animated exchange with the fourth umpire after a controversial moment.
"Andy Flower, Head Coach, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined 15% of his applicable match fee for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team officials," the IPL said in a statement.
"Andy was found to have breached article 2.3 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to 'use of an audible obscenity during a match.' The incident occurred in 17.2 over when Andy spoke aggressively with the fourth umpire.
"Andy admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee, Amit Sharma."
Having being set a target of 167, RCB won the last-ball thriller by two wickets, which kept their play-offs hopes alive while knocking out MI from the race for the knockouts.

Coming back to the match, after being asked to bat, MI were 28/3 in three overs. Naman Dhir (47) and Tilak Varma (57) added 82 off 57 balls to shift the momentum of the game, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar's four-wicket haul restricted them to 166 for seven.
While chasing, RCB were off to a poor start, but Krunal Pandya made a fighting 46-ball 73. After that, RCB needed 15 from the last six balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then blasted a six before Rasikh Salam Dar knocked off the winning runs. With that defeat, MI are knocked out of the playoff race.
