GT vs RR IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill, who gave their IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals a miss in Ahmedabad on Saturday, owing to a muscle spasm. But the team management is not too concerned about his injury status, as he might recover in time for their next IPL match against Delhi Capitals, scheduled for next week. Parthiv Patel, the assistant coach of the Gujarat-based franchise, has given a major update on the clash against RR, revealing that Gill felt neck pain yet again. It should be noted here that the Indian Test and ODI skipper had sustained a neck sprain in 2025, and that's why he was ruled out of the second Test and the ODI series against the Proteas.
During an interaction with the broadcasters, Parthiv was heard as saying, "Obviously, he had a neck sprain before, and he had a spasm a couple of days back. Hoping he's fit for the coming game. It doesn't look like that serious.”
“The injury management is not my forte. But I can definitely tell you that he should be fine,” he said.

Shubman's workload has increased significantly since February 2025. It increased further when he became India's Test and ODI skipper. He played competitive cricket throughout 2025, including the Test series against England, West Indies, and Australia. He had also featured in the 2025 Asia Cup. And that's why his continuous playing of competitive matches led to a neck sprain during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata.
Talking about the IPL 2026 match against the Rajasthan Royals, Rashid Khan became the stand-in skipper in Shubman's absence. Kumar Kushagra had replaced him in the playing XI. Shubman had scored 39 runs during their tournament opener against Punjab Kings, but his efforts went in vain as they lost the match.
