GT vs RR IPL 2026: The BCCI's Center of Excellence (COE), managed by VVS Laxman, will host a four-day intra-COE tournament later this year, featuring 64 talented players under 25. which also includes teen sensations Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, will be seen in action. As per PTI, the main aim of this initiative is to identify and develop young, talented players in the red-ball format, as the BCCI seeks to rectify the Indian senior team's recent poor results in the longest format.
These players will be divided into four teams of 16 for this tournament. All the teams will play two multi-day matches on different pitches, thereby being exposed to different challenges and match conditions. The performances of these players in these matches will play a huge role in forming future India A and emerging team selections.

The rest of the position will be filled by youngsters who have played in the IPL and have both experience and exposure to the group.

This initiative also has overseas exposure. After the IPL, the Indian U19 and Emerging teams will travel to Sri Lanka for more four-day matches, according to the report. The teams for this series will be selected based on their performances in intra-COE matches. The BCCI has also informed coaches and selectors at all levels to give utmost priority to red-ball cricket in the next year. About 25 players will be considered to serve as the backbone of India A and Emerging sides, thus forming a strong foundation for the national Test team.
