Rohit Sharma has been a smart captain, and there's no doubt about it. He has a good understanding of this sport. As skipper of the Mumbai Indians, he led the team to five IPL titles. And as the India skipper, he has led the team to two ICC titles. He might not be the skipper of the Indian team anymore, but he has experienced so much success in his career that he can foresee the winds of change.

Sharma, who now plays for India only in ODIs after retiring from the longest format and T20Is, has revealed that India's dominance in the ICC tournament over the last few years in both men's and women's cricket isn't something that has happened. And he has opined that the momentum is currently in India's favour, which is good for the future.

The Men in Blue have won two consecutive T20 World Cup titles and one Champions Trophy in the last two years. On the other hand, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side lifted their maiden ODI World Cup title. India's U-19 team had also lifted the World Cup this year.

"There's no secret to success; it's all about hard work. International cricketers - men's and women's - they work really, really hard to achieve what they have achieved. Of course, it's not just the players who perform on the field, but there are so many people behind the scenes as well who put in so much hard work into that success", Rohit Sharma said ahead of IPL 2026.

"So a lot of people and personnel to give credit to," he added.

"I feel very, very happy and proud to see what we've been seeing for the last couple of years now to come out with flying colours and achieve what we have achieved, not just the men's team but also the women's team to win that World Cup in Mumbai was fantastic to watch", he said.

"And recently, what the men's team did to win the T20 World Cup, what they did was phenomenal. And I hope this is just the start, there's no looking back from here because once you get the momentum - and we often talk about momentum in cricket - both men's and women's teams have, all I hope is that we carry this momentum," he concluded.

The Hardik Pandya-led side will lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders during their tournament opener in Mumbai on March 29th.
