DC vs GT IPL 2026: Washington Sundar has finally ended the drought of his first IPL half-century. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Sundar smashed his first fifty during their IPL 2026 match on Wednesday. Sundar, who made his IPL debut in 2017, when he represented Rising Pune Supergiants against Sunrisers Hyderabad, smashed 55 off 32 balls for the Gujarat-based franchise as the No. 4 batter in the ongoing season against DC in Delhi.

He hit six fours, two sixes, and built a 104-run third-wicket partnership with Shubman Gill.

Sundar has also represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this tournament. Before the ongoing match, his highest individual score was 49 runs off 29 balls for the Gujarat-based franchise against SRH during IPL 2025.

Sundar, who was a part of India's T20 World Cup-winning team, had smashed one fifty for the Indian team after playing in 60 T20Is till now. His highest individual score in the shortest format is 50 runs off 28 balls against the Kiwis way back in 2023. During that game, he had smashed five fours and three sixes while batting at the No.6 position, but his efforts went in vain as the team couldn't chase the target of 177 runs.

In the T20I match against Australia in Hobart last November, he scored an unbeaten 49 off 23 balls and helped the Men in Blue chase down the target of 187.

The five sixes that he smashed during the match against DC also created the record of becoming the first non-West Indies batter to have smashed at least 600 sixes in the shortest format.
