Delhi Capitals (DC) speedster Kyle Jamieson opened up on his on-field battle with batting prodogy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the Axar Patel-led side's seven-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Jamieson played a key role for Delhi to get a good start but he later found himself at the centre of attention following his animated celebration after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
After the match, Jamieson said it wasn’t easy bowling to the fearless youngster. He also appreciated the thought and planning that helped him get the wicket.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. But, yeah, we obviously did a bit of planning leading into the game, and it was just nice that it played off. That is a huge moment. More eyes are on Sooryavanshi. Most teams are looking at their top two, especially, and you’ve got them off to fliers," he said after the match.

“Starcy (Mitchell Starc) got one with the old high full toss, and I got one with the yorker, so it was nice to get away early and, I guess, stem the flow a little bit in the powerplay. He’s world class, right? So whenever you can have one of those guys in your squad, it’s a huge benefit. He came at the right time; we just needed to get a bit of a move on the points table. It’s nice to have him in, and it’ll be nice to share the new ball with him. It’s pretty surreal."

The incident happened in the second over of Rajasthan’s innings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit the first ball of Kyle Jamieson’s over for a boundary, but the bowler hit back straight away and bowled him on the very next delivery. After taking the wicket, Jamieson celebrated aggressively, he clapped in front of the youngster and gave him a fiery send-off.

Later, the IPL took action against the Delhi Capitals pacer. The league said Jamieson broke Article 2.5 of its Code of Conduct, which covers behaviour that can insult or provoke another player. He was given one demerit point along with a warning. Jamieson accepted the decision made by match referee Rajeev Seth.
