RR vs SRH IPL 2026 Eliminator: If someone tries to search the term 'fearless cricket', then the chances are high that the page will have an image of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The star Rajasthan Royals opener has changed not just batting but also the attitude that youngsters worldwide will try to adopt. Pacers like Mohammed Shami, Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, and Pat Cummins can make even the senior batters nervous. But the ever-confident, young Sooryavanshi is unaffected by all this, even under immense pressure. In his very first playoff match—the high-stakes IPL 2026 Eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad—his match-winning knock of 97 runs off 29 balls was crucial, helping RR advance to the next round and further increasing calls for his selection at the national level.
A season to remember
Even before the season kicked off, the hype around Sooryavanshi exploded. The Rajasthan-based franchise snapped him up for a whopping Rs 1 crore. Although stories of his talent fascinated fans, he captured everyone’s attention by smashing a six during Shardul Thakur’s over in his debut IPL match. He then stormed into action during the U-19 World Cup; after a rocky start, he rebounded by pounding a match-winning 175 off 80 balls, helping the team seize the trophy while English bowlers floundered. As a result, chatter intensified and the pressure mounted.
But post-smashing a four and a six during Matt Henry's over, the fans took notice of him again. He tried to warn his opponents during the first over of his stint, and since then, he has been on a six-hitting streak, regardless of who the opponent is or where he is playing. After playing 15 matches, he has scored 680 runs and has been a standout performer in the group stages.

Even though Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan's efforts command attention, it wouldn’t be wrong to recognize him as the Orange Cap winner. His dominant performance this year shattered almost all 'youngest-ever records', pushing him ever closer to 'best-ever feats'.
Not on the fast track?
Although the conversation around his international debut has surged, Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI's chief selector, withheld comment when pressed on the issue. Announcing the Indian team for the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan, he revealed that other talented players, alongside Sooryavanshi, await their India debuts.
He also noted that Sooryavanshi will represent the India A team in the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka.

"We selected him for the India A team because he is young and immensely promising. The idea is to expose these youngsters. Yashasvi Jaiswal already features in the ODI set-up. As dazzling as Sooryavanshi has been, others have delivered strong performances too. We are extremely excited about him, and hopefully he will dazzle when he tours with the A team," Agarkar told reporters during the press conference.
What more can the 15-year-old do?
Considering the kind of season he has crafted so far, his case for the Indian team already roars with merit. But the BCCI might advance cautiously. After all, we are talking about a 15-year-old boy, and the selectors do not want to thrust him into the top level too soon.
But he has done everything within his power to force selection. By churning out consistent performances, dictating the tempo, and demolishing the Pat Cummins-led side, he has proven he can excel under intense scrutiny at the top level.
