Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto created history on Day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The left-handed batter became the first Bangladesh captain to score a Test century against Pakistan. Batting at No. 4 in the first innings, Shanto played a brilliant knock of 101 runs from 130 balls. His innings included 12 boundaries and two sixes and helped Bangladesh put themselves in a strong position.

Before Shanto’s hundred, the record for the highest score by a Bangladesh captain in a Test against Pakistan belonged to Mushfiqur Rahim. Back in the 2011 Mirpur Test, Rahim had scored 53 runs in the second innings while batting at No. 7.
This was also Shanto’s ninth century in Test cricket, adding another major achievement to his growing career. With this knock, he also became the eighth Bangladesh batter to score a Test hundred against Pakistan.
Bangladesh players who smashed Test century vs Pakistan
Former Bangladesh captain and current chief selector Habibul Bashar was the first player from the country to score a Test century against Pakistan. Meanwhile, Litton Das remains the only Bangladesh batter to have scored more than one Test hundred against Pakistan.
