Uttar Pradesh DA Hike: The wait for the announcement of the due dearness allowance (DA) has finally ended for the employees an pesnioners of Uttar Pradesh as the Yogi Adityanath-led government announced a 2 per cent hike in DA, taking it to 60 per cent from earlier 58 per cent. The announcement will have a direct impact on the monthly pay of approximately 16 lakh government employees, teachers, and pensioners. The move hike will provide relief to employees' income amid the rising pressure of inflation.
Arrears to be credited with May’s salary
The DA benefits will be paid along with the May 2026 salary, which will be credited to employees' accounts in early June. As the new DA rates are effective from January 1, 2026, the arrears of the previous months–January 2026 to April 2026– will be deposited into their General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts. Starting May 2026, 60 per cent of the DA will be directly credited to their salaries.
The DA hike will be applied to pensioners as well.
DA Hike By Centre And Other States
Earlier, Several state governments–including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir– and the Union government announced a DA Hike. The centre increased DA by 2 per cent for its employees and pensioners.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. S. Joseph Vijay announced a hike of 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for the state government employees and teachers just a few days after taking charge. According to an official announcement, with the revision, the DA would increase from 58 per cent to 60 per cent with effect from January 1, 2026.
The Chief Minister’s Office informed about the decision in an official social media post.
"Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. S. Joseph Vijay announces that the dearness allowance, currently at 58 per cent for government officials and teachers, will be increased to 60 per cent effective from 01.01.2026," Chief Minister's Office, Tamil Nadu said in a post on X.
