Petrol, Diesel Price Were Hiked

Early this morning, petrol and diesel prices were hiked by around 90p per litre. This is the second increase in fuel rates in less than a week, after state-owned oil companies ended a nearly four-year moratorium on price revisions.

Industry sources said that due to the hike, petrol prices in New Delhi rose from Rs 97.77 to Rs 98.64, while diesel prices rose from Rs 90.67 to Rs 91.58.

Last Week Price Were Hiked By Rs 3

Petrol and diesel prices rose by Rs 3 per litre on Friday for the first time in more than four years, as global crude oil prices surged following the Iran war. This forced state-run fuel retailers to pass on some of their mounting losses, while rates remained stable during key state election months ahead.

Rates vary by state due to differences in value-added tax.
