The domestic equity indices — Sensex and Nifty — traded in the green on Wednesday, September 16, amid value buying. At around 10:00 AM, BSE Sensex was trading at 74,306.83, up 0.41 per cent or 303.01 points. Nifty50 was quoted at 23,198.25, up 0.34 per cent or 79.65 points.

"Indian equities opened higher on Wednesday, but the early gains have been uneven across sectors as investors remain cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision later today. The initial strength has not translated into a broad-based risk-on move, with elevated crude oil prices and uncertainty over the Fed’s next policy signal keeping gains in check," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
"Crude oil remains a key source of pressure, with WTI trading around $104–105 a barrel. The rise in energy prices is also keeping the rupee under pressure, with the currency trading near Rs 95.8–Rs 95.9 per dollar," he added.
