The Bihar government’s Civil Aviation Department has launched a regular bus service connecting Purnia Airport with Jogbani to improve last-mile connectivity for air travellers from the Seemanchal region and areas near the Nepal border.
The service, which began operations on February 18, currently runs with two buses, while two additional buses are expected to be added soon. Approval for the expanded service has been sought online from the Regional Transport Authority, Purnia.
Civil Aviation Department Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Devre said the initiative would strengthen connectivity between Seemanchal, Nepal-border areas and major cities across the country. He added that the state government is working continuously to enhance infrastructure and passenger access at Purnia Airport.
Officials said the move is expected to boost passenger traffic and contribute to the region’s social and economic development. At present, Purnia Airport operates two daily flights to Kolkata, along with direct services to Delhi, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
The new bus service is set to benefit passengers from Araria, Forbesganj and Jogbani in particular. Buses depart from Purnia Airport to Jogbani at 9:45 am and 2:45 pm, while return services from Jogbani leave at 6:30 am and 2:30 pm, ensuring convenient and timely travel for air passengers.
