Tesla Manufacturing Plant In India: Elon Musk-led Tesla recently announced that it is pausing the plans to set up a manufacturing plant in the country. The minister of Heavy Industries in India confirmed the news and also confirmed that the brand has decided not to establish a manufacturing facility following a long dispute over import tariffs and domestic investment commitments. However, the Chief Minister of Haryana has stepped in extending full support to Tesla.
Haryana CM Offers Support To Tesla
Amid the news of Tesla pausing its factory plan in India, Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, has offered full support to the brand to set up a manufacturing facility in Haryana. The chief minister has guaranteed full administrative and policy support to Tesla for setting up a vehicle manufacturing facility in the state. Notably, this is not the first time that the Haryana CM has extended his full support to the brand. He had also invited the brand to set up a manufacturing plant in the state in November 2025.

Tesla In India
Elon Musk-led Tesla is one of the world’s top electric car manufacturers, and it currently offers Model Y and Model Y L in the country. It is worth mentioning that the brand currently imports its cars from Shanghai, China, which increases the prices of its cars. While the Tesla Model Y is priced between Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tesla Model Y L is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tesla Model Y: Range & Features
The Model Y comes equipped with a 15.4-inch touchscreen inside the cabin, which controls most functions in the car. It also gets a panoramic glass sunroof and an electrical liftgate. The Model Y boasts some of the most advanced ADAS features, which include a blind spot monitor, lane keep assist, and more. The standard variant of the Model Y has a claimed range of up to 500 kilometres, whereas the long-range model of the SUV is claimed to deliver up to 622 kilometres in a full charge.

Tesla Model Y L: Range
The Tesla Model Y long wheelbase is powered by the same 62.5 kWh battery pack. However, the Model Y long wheelbase is the first Tesla car to feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. The Tesla Model Y long wheelbase has also become the highest range offering Tesla Model Y variant in the country. It has a claimed WLTP range of 681 kilometres, and 288 kilometres worth of charge can be added in just 15 minutes using the Tesla Supercharger.
