Himalayan 450 Vs 440: Engine & Performance
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is powered by a new 443cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled engine, which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and it can generate 25.4 hp and 34 Nm of torque. The Himalayan 450, on the other hand, is powered by a 452cc engine, paired with a 6-speed gearbox, which is capable of generating a peak power and torque output of 40.02 hp and 40 Nm, respectively. The Himalayan 450 has more power and torque when compared to the all-new Himalayan 440.

Himalayan 440 Vs Himalayan 440: Features & Hardware
Features
In terms of features, the only noticeable difference is the 4-inch round coloured TFT instrument cluster on the Himalayan 450, whereas the Himalayan 440 has the digital-analogue instrument cluster with a tripper pod for navigation. Other noticeable features in both of these bikes include Switchable Dual-Channel ABS and a Type-C Charging port.
Hardware
While both of these motorcycles are quite similar in terms of features, the parts and their functionality are where things change drastically. We have mentioned key hardware differences between the Himalayan 440 and Himalayan 450 here:
Ride-By-wire Throttle & Riding Modes
The Himalayan 450 comes packed with a ride-by-wire throttle, which enables riding modes (Performance & Eco). The Himalayan 440, on the other hand, misses out on a ride-by-wire throttle and thus, it also doesn’t have riding modes.
Suspension
While the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 uses a telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock rear suspension, the Himalayan 450 uses Showa USD forks at the front and Showa linkage Monoshock suspension at the rear. The telescopic forks on the Himalayan 440 have a travel of 200mm, whereas the USDs on the Himalayan 450 have a travel of 230mm. Lastly, the Himalayan 440 rear monoshock suspension has a travel of 180mm, whereas the Himalayan 450 offers 200mm of travel with its Showa rear monoshock suspension.
Ground Clearance
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has a ground clearance of 230mm, whereas the Himalayan 440 has a ground clearance of 220mm only.
Fuel Tank
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 has a 15-litre fuel tank and up to 30 litres of ARAI-claimed mileage. The Himalayan 450, on the other hand, has a 17-litre fuel tank and a similar fuel efficiency. Choosing the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440, instead of the Himalayan 450, means losing up to 60 kilometres of range just because of a smaller tank.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has a more powerful engine, riding modes with switchable ABS, increased suspension travel, wider rear tyre profile, a bigger fuel tank, and enhanced ground clearance, in comparison to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440. All of the above-mentioned elements are vital during off-roading. Thus, in my own opinion, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 emerges as a better off-roader.
