MG Comet EV: More Value Than ICE

The MG Comet EV evolves into a more significant asset than any Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle in 5 years. To begin with, the Comet EV has a running cost of around Rs 0.6 per kilometre, whereas a petrol car costs approximately Rs 6.5. A petrol car’s fuel cost stands at around Rs 7,800 for a month, whereas the Comet EV costs Rs 720 for a month’s running (For Around 1200 Kilometres). Given the lower running costs and fuel costs, we can state that the MG Comet is far more beneficial than any ICE vehicle.

Let’s assume that a person buys the battery-fitted version of the MG Comet for Rs 10 lakh. As per the abovementioned data, a person can save Rs 7,080 monthly. This way, a person can save Rs 84,960 (7,080x12) in one year, and up to Rs 4,24,800 in 5 years. The government provides a depreciation benefit on EVs, which stands at around 40 per cent of the total value after 5 years. This way, the Comet EV owner will have around Rs 4 lakh after 5 years.

Additionally, the brand also offers a buyback program, and the Comet EV owner can redeem around 50 per cent of the value of the car after 5 years, which is Rs 5 lakh. Now, adding the fuel benefit, depreciation benefit, and the buyback program, the Comet EV provides savings of more than Rs 13 lakh, which exceeds by Rs 3 lakh the value at which it was bought.
