Maruti Suzuki Flex Fuel:  Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India, unveiled the country’s first flex fuel car, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel, today. The Wagon R Flex Fuel was unveiled in the presence of the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri. The launch of the Wagon R flex fuel marks a significant step in India’s journey towards cleaner fuel alternatives.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel comes equipped with several upgrades in terms of hardware and software. These new enhancements enable the vehicle to run on higher ethanol blends. In addition to a revised engine calibration system, the Wagon R Flex Fuel also features ethanol-compatible materials and components to ensure enhanced fuel delivery. Based on the ethanol concentration, the powertrain system in the new Wagon R Flex Fuel adjusts combustion parameters and fuel injection in real time to provide better performance, durability, and efficiency.

‘Ethanol To Strengthen Rural Economy’

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, appreciated Maruti Suzuki for introducing India’s first flex fuel car. The union minister spoke about the importance of flex fuel for the country at the launch event and said, “India imports a large quantity of crude oil every year, and biofuels like ethanol are important for reducing this dependence while strengthening our rural economy. Flex-Fuel Vehicles can create a strong and sustainable demand for ethanol, benefiting our farmers, industry, and the environment together."

The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, congratulated the brand on taking an important step towards a cleaner, greener, and more self-reliant future. He further added, “India's ethanol journey is unstoppable. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have transformed our farmers from `annadatas' to 'urjadatas', while strengthening India's energy security. Flex-fuel vehicles are a win-win for the nation- reducing crude oil import dependence, saving valuable foreign exchange, lowering emissions, and creating new opportunities for rural prosperity.”
