Several media reports have cited various dealers that the brand has now pulled the plug on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. However, the Ignis is still available on the official website of Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships. Notably, the largest car manufacturer in India sells cars through two primary dealerships, Arena and Nexa. The Ignis was part of the Nexa dealership, and while it is still available for booking on the website, the news of the brand winding up production might not be completely false.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Discontinued: The Reason

The crossover aesthetics have helped several products in the Indian market to garner significant attention. However, the same might not have been successful for the Ignis. The Ignis, launched in 2017, failed to gain consumer interest. The Ignis sold around 51,176 units in 2022, which was the peak for the hatchback. However, the Swift and other similarly priced cars by the brand gained far more popularity and sold well. The Ignis also didn’t receive any major upgrades in its 9 years of life, which might’ve brought down the sales numbers significantly.

While the Maruti Suzuki Ignis might not have clicked really well with the consumers, it has several special things to it. To begin with, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is the most affordable Nexa model. It is priced between Rs 5.35 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom). The most special part of the Ignis was its engine. The Ignis is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine, which generates 83 hp.
