Kia Carens Clavis EV BaaS:  Kia, the South Korean car manufacturer, has launched the Battery as a Service (BaaS) variant of its popular 7-seater, the Kia Carens Clavis EV, in the country with a starting price of Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The battery-fitted Carens Clavis became the most affordable electric MPV in the country with prices starting from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Introduction of the BaaS variant has made the electric MPV more lucrative, as it costs Rs 5.15 lakh less than the battery-fitted iteration. Let’s take a look at the battery rental fees, along with the range and features of the Kia Carens Clavis EV.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Finance Options

The brand has also introduced the BaaS finance program with the launch of the Kia Carens Clavis EV, with support from India’s leading financiers, including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Axis Bank. The move is aimed at democratizing EV ownership in the country with flexible dual-loan options. Under the dual-loan system, two separate loan accounts will be created for the vehicle and battery. The finance program can be availed with a minimum down payment of Rs 51,520, and EMI starting from Rs 26,650 per month, along with a battery rental fee of Rs 3.3/km. The plan offers a maximum tenure of up to 60 months for the vehicle and 96 months for the battery.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Battery Rental

The Kia Carens Clavis EV BaaS variant will be offered in a total of two trims. The standard trim and the long-range trim. The battery rental fee has been kept at Rs 3.3 per kilometre for both of these variants. While the Standard trim is priced at Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom), the Long-range trim is priced at Rs 15.94 lakh (ex-showroom). The Long-range variant can be bought with the finance option, with a down payment starting from Rs 60,452 and monthly EMIs starting as low as Rs 33,099.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Range

The Kia Carens Clavis EV will be offered with two battery pack options: a 51.4 kWh battery pack and a 42 kWh battery pack, in the country. The 51.4 kWh battery pack has a claimed range of up to 490 kilometres, once fully charged, while the 42 kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 404 Kilometers. The Carens Clavis EV also gets fast charging functionality, which enables it to go 10-80 per cent in just 39 minutes by using a 100kW DC fast charger.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Features

The Kia Carens Clavis EV features a cabin similar to the regular Carens Clavis MPV. The electric iteration of the Carens Clavis also comes equipped with a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display, which integrates the infotainment system along with the digital driver’s display. Other features on the Kia Carens Clavis EV include a one-touch electric tumble function for the second row of seats, boss mode, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
