Upcoming Hyundai Cars In India:  Hyundai, the South Korean car manufacturer, has completed 30 years in India. The brand began its journey in the country in May 1996, and it has become one of the largest car manufacturers in the country. In 30 years of its journey in India, the brand has sold more than 13.5 million units of cars. The company plans to introduce 26 new products in the country by FY30. Let’s take a brief look at the brand’s journey, along with its upcoming car models.

Hyundai & India: The Beginning & The Journey

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) began its journey in the country on May 6, 1996. The brand introduced the Hyundai Santro as its first car in 1998. It was an instant success and solidified the brand’s position in the country. After launching the hatchback in 1998, the brand launched the Hyundai Accent in 1999, and it established the brand as a premium car maker in the country. Just 2 years later, the brand introduced the Hyundai Sonata, which was a mid-size sedan. The brand then launched the Getz hatchback, i10 and i20 in 2004, 2007, and 2008, respectively. The Verna was launched in the country in 2010. Next-gen Grand i10 was launched in 2013, and the brand then launched the Hyundai Creta in 2015. The Creta has remained segment-leader ever since, and it is the most popular mid-size SUV in the country.

Upcoming Hyundai Cars

As part of its long-term growth strategy, the brand will invest Rs 45,000 crore between FY26 and FY30 in the country. As mentioned earlier, the brand will also be launching 26 new models by 2030. Let’s take a look at the cars that the brand is expected to launch.

Next-Gen Hyundai i20

A prototype of the next-gen Hyundai i20 was recently spied in Scandinavia. The spy shots suggest that the next-gen Hyundai i20 might feature a curved dual-display setup inside the cabin with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a similarly sized digital instrument cluster. A redesigned dashboard and more premium upholstery materials are also anticipated. We also expect the upcoming next-gen Hyundai i20 to feature a Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, a dash cam, and more to enhance occupant safety. It is expected to remain unchanged in terms of its powertrain.

Hyundai Bayon

The Hyundai Bayon will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Tata Nexon, And More. The 2026 Hyundai Bayon will be the second-generation model of the SUV. Inside the cabin, it has seats with fabric upholstery, an automatic climate control system, a sunroof, ventilated and heated front seats, circular door handles, rear AC vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a host of ADAS features. The 2026 Hyundai Bayon is expected to feature multiple powertrain options, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

2027 Hyundai Creta

The 2027 Hyundai Creta has been spied testing again overseas. a new steering wheel, redesigned dashboard, touch-based HVAC panel, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and a larger fully digital driver’s display are much-anticipated. While the 2027 Hyundai Creta is expected to receive major changes in terms of design and interior, it will likely remain unchanged in terms of powertrain.

Hyundai Compact EV

Hyundai is planning on launching a new compact SUV in India. The upcoming Hyundai compact SUV was spied testing on the Indian roads for the first time recently. As per several media reports, the brand is expected to equip its compact SUV with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster of the same size, ventilated driver and co-passenger seats, and more. The official details regarding the upcoming compact SUV will be revealed as the launch nears. However, we expect it to be the band’s smallest EV offering in the country.
