Delhi Hydrogen Bus Route:  Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, launched a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in the Central Vista area of the national capital today. The move comes after PM Modi urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption in the country. The global fuel supply has been disrupted severely since the US-Iran war began, and global crude oil prices have skyrocketed in recent months. Let’s take a look at the route and timings of Delhi’s first hydrogen bus shuttle.

First In Delhi, Second In India

While Delhi has received its first hydrogen-powered bus with the commencement of DMRC’s hydrogen shuttle bus service, it is the second hydrogen-powered bus in the country. Notably, the first hydrogen-powered bus service was unveiled in the country in 2022 in Pune, Maharashtra. Now, the country has received its second hydrogen-powered bus service in the form of Delhi’s first hydrogen bus.

Delhi Hydrogen Bus: Route

The first hydrogen-powered bus in Delhi will enhance connectivity between metro stations in the Central Vista area. The DMRC hydrogen-powered bus will run between the Central Secretariat and Seva Tirth Metro Stations. The hydrogen bus has been developed by Tata Motors, and it will be offered by Delhi Metro through IOCL. The hydrogen-powered bus presents itself as a greener, cleaner mobility alternative when compared to CNG-powered buses in the national capital.

Delhi Hydrogen Bus: Timings And Other Details

The Delhi Hydrogen bus service will operate on all working days between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm. The bus will run in a total of two shifts. In the morning shift, it will run from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, and then it will run in the afternoon shift from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The bus service will cover major government offices, including Kartavya Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Akbar Road, Baroda House, National Stadium, National Gallery of Modern Arts, India Gate, and Seva Tirth metro station.

Delhi Hydrogen Bus: Features

IOCL will provide two hydrogen-powered buses to the DMRC for the shuttle service. Each of these buses has a seating capacity of 35 passengers, and they come packed with several advanced features, including CCTV cameras and GPS-based tracking.
