Vivo has just dropped two smartphones in the Indian as well as global markets, the Vivo V70 series smartphones. These two devices are successors to the previous V60 series smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker has introduced these phones to cater to the mid-tier under-50K segment. The magnum opus here is the V70 Elite, which comes with a powerful Snapdragon SoC and a Zeiss-backed primary camera lens. Here we have a detailed review of the smartphone, taking a deeper dive into its specs and features to give you an idea if this would be a good investment for you, so let's take a look.
Design, Build Quality And Overall Feel
The device comes with a decent 6.59-inch display, has a good in-hand feel and is not too big or small, so it holds well in the hand. The device also manages to look a bit premium with its sandwich design; the company has gone with curved edges with this one, as has become the norm these days. At the back it has a matt glass finish and a raised metallic camera module. On the protection front, the device comes with what the brand calls “short-sensation core” protection on the front glass, though the rear panel doesn’t get any added shielding. For durability, the Vivo smartphone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, so dust and water resistance shouldn’t be a concern.

Display and Audio
Up front, you get a 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes everyday scrolling and animations feel smooth. Vivo claims a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, and in real-world use, the screen remains easily visible even under harsh sunlight. That said, it’s a bit disappointing not to see an LTPO display at this ₹50,000 price point. The ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, however, is quick and reliable, unlocking the phone almost instantly.

As for audio, the stereo speakers can get quite loud, but the sound output lacks richness. The tuning feels flat, and there isn’t much depth, which might leave music enthusiasts wanting more. Using a good pair of earbuds or headphones does improve the overall listening experience significantly.
Software and Performance Core
This device runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 silicon under the hood, but this CPU is being utilised in devices that cater to the sub-Rs 30,000 segment; one such device is the iQOO Neo 10R. The phone also sports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. As far as benchmarks are concerned, the phone's AnTuTu score is around 1.8 million and maintains smooth functioning at up to 91% CPU throttling during the test.

Although there might be some bad news for BGMI gamers as the phone does not support 120 FPS, the phone still maintains smooth and lag-free gaming. It must also be noted that this is not a dedicated gaming device, and we were not disappointed with the phone's performance. However, at this price point there could have been a better processor, and there is still some room for improvement.

Speaking of the OS, it will run on OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and will come with four years of OS updates coupled with six years of security patches. Another point that customers must be aware of is that the device does not come free of bloatware, and this device has many, which is definitely a downside as people and manufacturers both are moving towards a more bloatware-free environment. At an Rs 50,000 price point, around 12 bloatware apps feels a bit too much.
Camera
This is definitely the magnum opus of the device with a Zeiss-backed primary shooter. The V70 Elite has a 50 MP primary sensor, which is a Sony LYT-700V sensor. The Vivo phone benefits from Zeiss colour science, which helps it capture well-balanced photos in daylight, particularly when shooting portraits. Colours look natural, and skin tones are handled nicely. It also features a 50MP telephoto camera powered by the Sony IMX882 sensor with 3.5x zoom support. This lens is especially good for portrait photography and delivers sharp, detailed images at 85mm and 100mm focal lengths. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide lens that performs well in daylight, though you may notice some noise in low-light shots.

On the front, the phone offers a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus, ensuring crisp and clear photos that are ready for social media. It supports 4K video recording at 60 fps, but 4K isn’t available on the ultra-wide lens. Video stabilisation is solid, keeping footage steady. The Vivo V70 Elite’s camera app also includes several AI features that can quickly change the overall look and feel of your photos, although processing can occasionally take a bit of time.
Battery And Charging
The device has a decent battery setup as well with a 6,500 mAh cell and can offer 8 hours of screen-on-time (SOT) and over a day when it comes to battery life. For charging you will get a 90W charger, and as tested, the phone can charge from 4% to 100% in just 52 minutes, which is a fairly good score.
Verdict: Should You Buy It?
The Vivo V70 Elite smartphone will serve well those who want a good battery life and a decent camera and if you want smooth everyday functioning.
