The Galgotias University fiasco was one thing that people were still talking about after the expo concluded for the day on its third day, but soon heads started turning, as something real and exciting was gathering much attention. A Bengaluru-based startup showcased its own indigenously made robot dog, which they have named Param. The robot dog was showcased at the currently ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, which has brought together leaders from all across the globe in the field of tech and AI, with the biggest minds sharing insights on the future roadmap of AI in India.

Now this is no ordinary robot, and it is definitely not sourced from China. Unlike what happened at the expo before, this robot, the company claims, is 100 per cent indigenously manufactured without the use of any imported components, and on top of that, the talent behind its engineering is also completely Indian, so this is, in the true sense, a made-in-India product.

In a post on X (Twitter) General Autonomy wrote, “Enough of this nonsense! Presenting PARAM: India’s most powerful indigenous robot dog. Not assembled, not bought, BUILT IN INDIA, built by INDIANS. For our nation, for our century, for our world."

Param, What Can It Do?

In a video posted by the startup, Param is seen navigating Bengaluru’s busy streets smoothly, weaving through traffic without hesitation. The robot is designed to sense obstacles in its path, scale steps as high as 30 cm, and even shift into a crab-like movement to squeeze through tighter spaces. The company has also said that the robot comes fully equipped with autonomous navigation, which gives it exceptional tracking ability. Additionally, the robot can also successfully regain its lost balance if it ever falls.

The team that made Param has also given a timeline of how much time it took them to manufacture the robot. The company claims that they were able to make it in seven months.

The startup showcased its mettle last month as well, while demonstrating the robot to PM Modi during an event celebrating a decade of Startup India. “Honoured to present our robot dog PARAM to the Hon’ble PM of India Shri @narendramodi, in the presence of @PiyushGoyal at the #NationalStartupDay2026 Deep Tech showcase," the startup posted on X, saying, “PM’s advice to our founder @frdahsan: take care of PARAM in Delhi winters!"

What Can You Use A Robot Dog For?

These robot dogs might seem like just another boy toy, but these have some intriguing applications; for example, these robots can be used in rough terrains where wheeled vehicles or other things cannot manoeuvre. These robot dogs are also capable of climbing stairs, crossing rough terrain and also carrying things while they do so.
