Sony’s new upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro console may finally be coming to India. The gaming console, which launched worldwide in November 2024, has now shown up on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database. It’s the major regulatory step that typical hardware products need to take before they can be launched in the country. This is positive news, as the PS5 Pro India launch has been repeatedly delayed over the last few months and could potentially be coming up soon.
PS5 Pro Listed On BIS Certification Website
A listing (as seen at Arjun Campbell's X handle) has appeared on the BIS portal for a CFI-7121 Sony gaming console.
This model number appears to relate to the PS5 Pro, specifically its 2025 hardware revision.

Devices usually show up on the BIS database some time prior to their actual launch in India, given that companies need to obtain regulatory clearance before bringing hardware products to market.
While the listing does not showcase any specifications, it seems to suggest that Sony is readying for an imminent launch of the console in India.
Delay Due To Wi-Fi 7 Regulation Prior
The launch of the PS5 Pro in India had been delayed previously over regulatory issues regarding its support for Wi-Fi 7.
The console is Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) compliant, utilising the 6 GHz spectrum band. Wondering why it took so long for Sony to announce the PlayStation 5 launch in India?
Availability was also affected in a limited number of other markets worldwide due to regulatory constraints.
It is unclear if the spectrum issue has now been fixed.
PS5 Pro Specifications
Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro back in November 2024, and it will come with a number of hardware improvements over the standard PS5.
