OpenAI Deep Research Upgrade Now Has A Full Screen Viewer And New Controls, Check Details

ChatGPT Deep Research Update: The Deep Search tool in OpenAI's ChatGPT has seen some updates coming to it this week. This agentic AI model was introduced in February of 2025 by the tech giant and was made with the aim to provide deeper insights into the topic and also cater to multi-step complex queries. A year has passed since then, and now the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence giant has introduced some new tools to it, which also include a new full-screen report viewer tool. This would make it much easier for researchers to handle multiple tasks and give them more flexibility. Apart from that, the company has also updated the GPT-5.2 instant AI model.

Deep Research New Features

OpenAI has rolled out new upgrades to Deep Research in ChatGPT, adding more control over how research is done and how results are viewed. As outlined in the release notes, the changes focus on two areas: giving users better ways to guide their research and making the overall experience easier to follow.

The biggest change is a new option that lets users limit their research to specific websites directly from within the tool. Earlier, this kind of control had to be written into the prompt itself. Moving it to a built-in setting should help Deep Research deliver more focused and relevant results, without extra effort from the user.

On top of that, users can now turn on connected apps while running Deep Research and use them as trusted sources. This allows ChatGPT to pull information from linked services during research, adding more context and reliability to the final output.

Apart from that, there are some other improvements as well, like now the Deep Search tool comes with a reimagined sidebar entry point and a full-screen report viewer as well. The report viewer feature looks like a document viewer interface with side panels for indexing (left) and carrying out citations (right). The index also sports an interactive interface where users can interact directly with headings and subheadings and easily and quickly interact with the part they want.

Apart from the changes introduced to the agentic model, the company has also updated its GPT 5.2 Instant in ChatGPT and application programming interface (API). OpenAI has expressed that responses will now be more "measured and grounded" when it comes to tonality, making the responses much more natural and context-centric, according to the conversation taking place.
