Lava has expanded its affordable smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Yuva Star 3, a phone that clearly prioritises practicality over flashy specifications. Aimed at first-time smartphone users and buyers looking for a dependable secondary device, the Yuva Star 3 sits firmly in the sub-Rs 8,000 category.
Instead of chasing performance benchmarks, Lava is positioning the Yuva Star 3 around three core ideas: durability, a clean software experience and reliable daily use. It’s a familiar strategy for the brand, particularly in the entry-level category where long-term user-friendliness may be more important than outright power.

It has a large 6.75-inch HD+ display, which makes it perfect for watching videos, browsing social media, and even day-to-day usage. Although detail on the screen will be limited, the size of the screen is aimed at satisfying those upgrading from smaller devices.

Powering the device is the Unisoc SC9863A octa-core processor. It’s paired with 4GB of RAM, which can be expanded virtually by an additional 4GB. Storage stands at 64GB, enough for basic apps, photos and media, especially when paired with the lightweight nature of Android Go.
One of the key highlights of the Yuva Star 3 is its software. The phone runs Android 15 Go Edition out of the box, offering a clean, bloatware-free interface. This should translate into smoother performance over time, particularly for users who value simplicity and ease of use. Features like auto and anonymous call recording have also been included, catering to everyday needs.
Durability is another area Lava is emphasising. The Yuva Star 3 comes with an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, a feature that’s still relatively uncommon at this price point. Support for Band 28 also enhances network compatibility, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.
As far as the camera aspect is concerned, the device keeps the expectations in check, since it offers a 13 MP AI dual rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, designed for casual requirements rather than serious photography or videography.
The device has a battery of 5,000mAh, which should suffice for use over a day. Rechargeability comes in the form of a Type-C port with 10W rechargeability.
In terms of pricing, the Lava Yuva Star 3 is reportedly available at a price of Rs 7,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant. The smartphone is expected to be available in Indus Black and Siachen White colour configurations and can be purchased from offline retail stores in India from March 2026. The company is now providing a one-year warranty with free home service.
