Core Features Across The DeskJet Lineup

All new DeskJet All In One printers support printing, scanning, and copying using HP’s Thermal Inkjet technology. The printers come with a 60-sheet input tray and support manual duplex printing through software drivers.

Scanning is handled via a flatbed CIS scanner with optical resolution of up to 1,200dpi. Supported scan formats include JPEG, PDF, PNG, and TIFF. Connectivity options include built-in dual band Wi Fi, USB 2.0 for wired use, and mobile printing through the HP app, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Android print services.

Most models offer print speeds of up to 7.5 pages per minute for black prints and 5.5 pages per minute for colour. The printers share a monthly duty cycle of up to 1,000 pages, use separate black and colour cartridges, and do not include fax functionality.

DeskJet Ink Advantage Model Differences

The DeskJet Ink Advantage 2986 and 2989 are designed for light usage, with a recommended monthly volume of 50 to 100 pages. The DeskJet Ink Advantage 4388 is aimed at heavier home use, with a recommended print volume of 100 to 300 pages per month.

The 4388 model also offers faster black print speeds of up to 8.5 pages per minute and includes an automatic document feeder, making it more suitable for handling multipage documents. HP says these models are ideal for small groups of up to three users.

Ultra Ink Advantage And Base DeskJet Models

The DeskJet Ultra Ink Advantage 5135 and 5185 are positioned as higher-output options while retaining the same all in one functionality. Both support print resolutions of up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi for black and 4,800 x 1,200 dpi for colour prints and ship with setup ink cartridges in the box.

The DeskJet 2931 serves as the base model in the new lineup. It supports the same connectivity and scanning features as the rest of the series and is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia.
