Healthy Gujiya Recipe: This sweet fried dumpling, known as Gujiya, is a traditional Indian dessert. It is especially prepared during Holi festivities in households across India. In the shape of a half-moon and with patty like outer covering, Gujiya is filled with a sweet, rich filling of khoya (milk solids), nuts, and dried fruits. However, in modern times, where everybody is turning health-conscious, here is a healthier upgrade to this culturally beloved Gujiya.

Ingredients To Make Healthy Gujiya:
For The Gujiya Stuffing
- Fresh Or Frozen Khoya
- Ghee
- Milk
- Nuts (Optional)
- Dried Coconut
- Sugar (Or Any Preferred Sweetener)
- Green Cardamom Powder
- Saffron (Optional)
For The Gujiya Dough
- All-Purpose Flour
- Ghee
- Ice Cold Water
- Salt
How To Make Healthy Gujiya For Holi 2026:
Method To Prepare Gujiya Dough:
1. Take a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, ghee, pinch of salt. Mix the flour with your fingers.

2. Then slowly add ice-cold water, around ¼ cup or as needed, to just combine the dough into a tight ball. However, make sure not to over-knead the dough.
3. Cover the dough with a clean piece of cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
How To Prepare Gujiya Filling:
1. Meanwhile, prepare the Gujiya filling. In a pan, heat a tablespoon of ghee on a medium heat. Add finely chopped nuts and roast them a little.
2. Add desiccated coconut and roast for 1-2 minutes. Transfer the nuts and desiccated coconut into a bowl.

3. In the same pan, add crumbled or grated khoya (mawa) and 2-3 tablespoons of milk. Roast on low - medium flame to make a soft consistency. Transfer the khoya into a bowl.
4. Let the mixture cool completely before adding other ingredients.
5. After that, add the remaining stuffing ingredients like sugar, green cardamom powder, a pinch of saffron, pinch of salt. Mix well and keep the stuffing mixture aside.
6. Now, Air Fry Gujiya:
- Spread parchment paper inside your air fryer. Keep the gujiya in its basket.
- Now, using a pastry brush, apply some oil on top of the gujiya.

- Lastly, air fry the gujiya at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes
- Turn them after half time goes by, apply melted ghee on the other side of the gujiya, and continue to air fry until the outer crust is nice and light brown.
7. Voila, your easy and healthy gujiya is ready to eat with family and friends during the festival of colours.
