At first glance, it looked like just another powerful stage performance going viral online. A young woman dressed in a yellow kurta stood confidently with a mic in her hand, smiling at the crowd before reciting a sharp Urdu couplet. Her delivery was calm, graceful and full of attitude and the audience responded with loud applause. In the viral video, she can he heard saying, "Khaandani raees rakhte hain mijaaz naram apna… tumhara lehja bata raha hai ki tumhari daulat nayi nayi hai," ending the last line with confidence and style.
The video was shared on Instagram by an account named Tanvi Joshi, who describes herself as a 'Punjabi girl' in her bio. Within just one day, the reel exploded across social media and clocked a massive 28 million views. People filled the comment section, praising the bold lines and even discussing how perfectly the words were pronounced.

But there was a twist that most viewers missed. The woman seen in the video was not a real person. Despite her natural expressions and lifelike gestures, Tanvi Joshi is actually an AI-generated model. Her smooth skin and slightly changing voice patterns in different videos had made a few users suspicious, but that did not stop the clip from spreading like wildfire. And that wasn’t the only surprise.
The powerful shayari wasn’t originally hers either. The voice in the viral reel belonged to Marziya Shanu Pathan, a corporator from the Thane Municipal Corporation. Just six days earlier, Pathan had performed the same couplet at a public event and uploaded her own video on Instagram. When Pathan noticed the clip, she commented, 'Aye that's my voiceeeeeee,' instantly revealing the truth behind the viral sensation.

This isn’t the first time the AI model has used someone else’s poetry. Earlier, the digital avatar recited well-known artist Nayab Midha’s famous piece, 'Socho agar wo kajal lagale,' and that video went on to receive 7 million views.

What seemed like a simple poetry performance turned out to be a striking example of how artificial intelligence can blur the lines between real and digital and how, sometimes, the internet applauds the avatar louder than the original artist.
