Food experiments on the internet rarely surprise people anymore but this one truly did. A woman from Bengaluru has gone viral for the way she decided to eat sushi, and social media users cannot stop talking about it. Sushi is usually eaten in a very specific way. People gently pick it up with chopsticks, dip it lightly in soy sauce, maybe add a small touch of wasabi, and take a careful bite. It’s all about balance and presentation. But this video shows something completely different.
In the viral video, the woman first places a piece of sushi on her plate using her hands. So far, nothing shocking. But instead of picking it up for a neat bite, she starts crushing it with her fingers. Yes, crushing it. She skips the usual dipping step, too. Rather than lightly dipping the sushi in soy sauce, she pours soy sauce directly on top of the mashed pieces. Then she adds wasabi and mixes everything together properly.

The result looks less like sushi and more like a soft rice mixture, something many viewers compared to dal-chawal. After mixing it well, she eats it with her hands, just like many Indians eat their everyday meals. The video carries the text, "POV: you try sushi for the first time." In the caption, she also wrote, "No offence to Japanese culture, I love sushi."

As expected, the internet had strong reactions. Some people found it funny, others were shocked, and many simply couldn’t believe their eyes. The video shared on Instagram by the handle 'sonupakerla' just a day ago pulled more than 7 million views from users.
Taking to the comment section, one user wrote, "You’re insulting the food." "Please do not disrespect the food and its culture," a second user added. "Whoa, that amount of wasabi you just took my anxiety level," wrote a third user. "This is what happens when uneducated people go to fancy restaurants," added a fourth user. After so many comments, one thing is certain: this unusual sushi style has definitely stirred up a lot of online chatter.
