Forza Horizon 6 is on the way May 19 for PC and Xbox Series S/X, with a PlayStation 5 launching later this year. Before launch, developer Playground Games has revealed new details about gameplay systems, world design, and customisation coming to the game. Based in Japan, the new open-world driving title will feature the series' biggest map, new immersive seasonal changes and a completely dynamic weekend that offers new social and multiplayer experiences to unite racers of every type on AND off the road.
Japan Setting and Expansive Open World
According to Playground Games, Forza Horizon 6 will feature iconic Japanese locations, including Tokyo’s downtown area with Shibuya Crossing, Ginza Avenue, and Tokyo Tower. Beyond urban streets, players can race through real-world mountain passes such as Mount Haruna and Bandai Azuma, offering varied terrain across the map.
Published by Microsoft, the game is confirmed to have the biggest open world in the series yet.
Dramatic Seasonal Changes Return
Seasonal gameplay returns with more “drastic” shifts. Landscapes, trees, plants and weather will all change with each season. Playground Games also revealed that the Alpine setting will have an all-seasons snow gameplay.
New Events and Car Meets
Forza Horizon 6 introduces several new event types:
- Horizon Rush obstacle course events spread across the map
- Time Attack Circuits for setting fastest lap times
- Car Meets, allowing players to gather online, share tunes and liveries, and even buy copies of showcased cars
Rare aftermarket cars will also appear around the map, available for test drives and discounted purchases.

New gameplay improvements include a Car Proximity Radar to keep track of other racers around you, better-looking and smoother steering animations, improved sound effects and a larger range of cars!
