Khichdi Recipe For Makar Sankranti 2026:  As Makar Sankranti 2026 is almost here, households across India are looking forward to enjoying a wholesome meal of Khichdi with friends and family. How To Make An Easy And Comforting Khichdi Recipe For Makar Sankranti 2026?

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup Rice
½ cup (soaked for 30 minutes) Split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal)
1 tablespoon Chopped garlic
1-2 (finely chopped) Green chillies
1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
2 tablespoons Ghee
To taste Salt
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
½ teaspoon Asafoetida
1 large (finely chopped) Onion
1 medium (finely chopped) Tomato
Handful (finely chopped) Fresh coriander leaves

Method:

1. Add ghee to a pressure cooker.

2. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and mix. Then, mix garlic, ginger and green chillies, again mix for 1 minute.

3. Then add the onion to the mix and saute till it turns translucent.

4. Add tomato and salt, mix and saute for another 2 minutes.

5. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder, and again mix for 1 minute.

6. Now, finally add a cup of rice and split green gram and mix well.

7. Now, add 4 cups of water.

8. Give everything a good mix.

9. Cover the cooker and cook until 3 to 4 whistles are given out.

10. After the pressure has reduced, open the lid and garnish with coriander leaves and mix well.

11. Your Khichdi for Makar Sakranti is ready, serve with a spoonful of Ghee and a roasted papad and your favourite pickle.
