Anurag Kashyap’s directorial Kennedy made a striking global debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, where it premiered in the prestigious Midnight Screenings section. The gritty thriller left international audiences and critics impressed, earning a seven-minute standing ovation—a moment widely seen as a strong endorsement of the film’s impact and Kashyap’s vision.

Following its success at Cannes, Kennedy continued its international festival run with a screening at the Sydney Film Festival. There too, the film was met with a standing ovation, reaffirming its resonance with global audiences beyond Europe. Viewers praised not only the gripping narrative but also the film’s technical brilliance, particularly its stark cinematography and pulsating background score.

Kennedy later screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, where Indian audiences praised its bold storytelling and noir visual style. However, despite strong responses at global and Indian festivals, the Sunny Leone–Rahul Bhatt starrer is yet to get a theatrical release in India, leaving fans curious about the delay.

There appears to be some encouraging news for fans of Anurag Kashyap, as his long-awaited film Kennedy may finally be heading for an Indian release. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the thriller is expected to arrive in theatres within the next one or two months.
