T20 World Cup: Pakistan spinners' flawless display, led by Usman Tariq and Shadab Khan, steered the Men in Green to their second T20 World Cup 2026 win with a commanding performance against the USA at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Tuesday.
Pakistan defeated the United States of America by 32 runs in their Group A match. Farhan's explosive 73 off 41 balls propelled Pakistan to 190 for nine, and their spin quartet proved ruthless, restricting USA to 158 for eight.
Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, and Usman Tariq combined to stifle the US batting lineup.
USA's innings
Shubham Ranjane's bold 51 (30b) came too late to change the course of the match, helping only to narrow the margin of defeat. Earlier, openers Shayan Jahangir (49, 34b) and Andries Gous (13, 13b) had given USA a solid start, taking them to 42 for no loss in the fifth over.
The USA, which had beaten Pakistan in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, ended the power play at 50 for 1. Jahangir's great shot off Shadab Khan ended prematurely, with Shaheen Shah Afridi taking a sharp catch at mid-wicket. Though Ranjane and Milind Kumar (23) added a 66-run stand for the fourth wicket.
